I am pleased to announce that I have released Namespace Database 0.2.1 Beta. Since this is still a beta release, there will inherently still be bugs, and we do not recommend using this program with a very important e-mail address at this stage. However, this version is more robust than the previous version (with regards to error handling vs. crashing). This new version also has the backend threaded so that the GUI is not frozen while the program handles communications with the POP3 account. The only new "feature" included in this release is the ability to turn off the POP3 e-mail portion of this database. Thus, if you wish to simply use just the GUI and not be able to access the database remotely, you may now do so. This is turned on and off through the Configuration Wizard which will pop up the first time you run the program on your system. You can also get back to the Configuration Wizard from the Options menu or by pressing ALT+C.
Key features/updates of this release include:- Ability to enable and disable the remote access system
- Backend now runs in a separate thread from the GUI, so the GUI will not freeze while the backend communicates with the email server
- More errors are properly handled, resulting in message box notifications instead of program crashing
- The backend will now timeout properly and halt the backend until user fixes configuration problems
